DUBAI,— The United Arab Emirates thwarted coordinated cyber attacks aimed at the country’s digital infrastructure and key sectors, the state news agency reported Saturday.
The attacks involved attempts to infiltrate networks, launch ransomware, and carry out systematic phishing campaigns targeting national platforms.
Artificial intelligence tools were reportedly used to develop sophisticated offensive methods, though the report did not identify those responsible.
The UAE Cybersecurity Council said the national cyber system successfully defended against attacks of a terrorist nature meant to destabilize the nation and disrupt essential services.
The Council emphasized that protecting individuals, securing personal data, and maintaining the operation of critical services remain top priorities.
The Council noted that the national cybersecurity and defense system works around the clock with service providers, domestic and international partners, and specialized organizations.
It also leverages advanced technical expertise and strategic partnerships to strengthen defenses, speed up recovery, and improve the country’s digital resilience.
Authorities urged the public to report suspicious cyber activity through official channels to help safeguard the nation’s digital environment and ensure the continuity of vital institutions.
