DUBAI,— Mehdi Taremi, Iran’s 34-year-old striker, has joined Al Wasl from Olympiacos, the Emirati football club currently leading the UAE Pro League.
The Emirati side announced the move on Saturday with a photograph showing Taremi holding an Al Wasl shirt, though it withheld details on the transaction’s financial structure.
Taremi has committed to a contract extending through June 30, 2027, according to transfer tracking site Transfermarkt.
His resume includes stints at Porto and Inter Milan, where he developed into one of Asia’s premier strikers.

The forward featured for Iran at this year’s FIFA World Cup in North America, where the national team finished group play after drawing all three matches.
His arrival bolsters Al Wasl during a strong start to the season.
The club has won both of its opening league games to maintain first place in the UAE Pro League standings.
Al Wasl also advances to the AFC Champions League Elite phase following last season’s third-place domestic finish and will face Saudi Arabia’s Al Qadsiah on September 14, 2026.
In separate news, the UAE Football Association named Croatian manager Zlatko Dalic as head coach of the national team in early August.
