DUBAI,— Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote is putting new structure around his fortune and business holdings as his family office in Dubai expands operations in 2027, Business Insider Africa reported.

The office, run out of Dubai by his daughter Halima Dangote, is meant to serve as a hub for the family’s investments and wealth, with an emphasis on governance, management of capital and charitable giving.

Halima told Bloomberg TV in an interview that the office will start becoming more visible in the first quarter of 2027, following years of preparation.

She said the family office’s presence would become noticeable starting in early 2027, once the first quarter of the year begins.

She said the goal is not only to manage the wealth Dangote holds now, but to build a system that can protect the family’s business interests for eight to ten generations.

That plan sits at the heart of a wider succession effort for a business empire that began as a trading company and grew into one of Africa’s largest privately owned industrial groups.

Dangote’s net worth stands at roughly $35 billion, based on figures from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Most of that wealth comes from his holdings in cement, fertilizer, food production and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, one of the largest facilities of its kind.

The family office is meant to give the family a single structure for making investment decisions and allocating capital as the businesses expand and more family members take on stakes.

For Dangote, the long-term plans go beyond business assets.

In July, Halima said her father intends to give away one-third of his wealth to charitable causes, a pledge already supported by his immediate family. At his current net worth, that would amount to about $11.7 billion.

Halima said her father asked her, her two sisters and his mother to sign an agreement backing the charitable pledge, part of his effort to keep philanthropy running across future generations.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation already serves as the family’s main charitable arm, working in areas such as health, education, nutrition and humanitarian relief.

About 70% of its funding goes toward programs in Nigeria, while another 20% supports projects elsewhere on the continent, according to details from Halima’s Bloomberg interview.

The family office is expected to combine three goals: protecting the family’s wealth, overseeing investments and continuing Dangote’s charitable work.

The step mirrors a wider trend among Africa’s wealthiest families, as founders of large private companies work to make sure their businesses and fortunes continue after they are gone.

For Dangote, the task now goes beyond building Africa’s biggest industrial fortune. It involves setting up institutions and oversight systems that can keep that fortune functioning long after he is no longer leading the company.

In July 2026, Dangote Cement Plc selected London instead of Dubai for its planned international stock listing, citing quicker execution, Mariya Dangote, a board member of the company and daughter of the founder, said in an interview with Bloomberg.
