DUBAI,— Emirates NBD, Dubai’s largest bank by assets, reported a 4% increase in full-year net profit for 2025, driven by strong domestic and international lending growth.
The Dubai-based lender said net profit reached 24 billion dirhams ($6.53 billion), surpassing analysts’ expectations of 22.8 billion dirhams, according to average estimates compiled by LSEG.
Emirates NBD, which is majority-owned by Dubai’s government, also announced an ordinary dividend of 100 fils per share.
The UAE banking sector has seen rising credit demand as governments invest in key sectors such as tourism and infrastructure to diversify the economy beyond oil revenues.
S&P Global Ratings said that banks’ profitability in 2025 was boosted by robust credit growth, lower loan-loss provisions, and high interest margins, while liquidity strengthened as deposit growth exceeded new lending.
Emirates NBD reported that total gross loans rose 24% to 658 billion dirhams by year-end December.
The growth was driven by markets including Saudi Arabia, where the bank plans to expand its branch network to 24 locations by the first quarter of 2026.
Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said the bank will continue expanding its international network, with a focus on strategic investments in India and growing its presence in other high-potential regional markets.
Last year, Emirates NBD announced plans to invest $3 billion to acquire a 60% stake in India’s RBL Bank, the largest cross-border acquisition in India’s financial sector.
The Dubai bank’s total deposits rose 18% to 786 billion dirhams, bringing total assets to 1.16 trillion dirhams, reflecting robust growth in UAE banking and international operations.
