DUBAI,— Dubai-based carrier flydubai reported a pre-tax profit of AED 2.2 billion, or 591 million dollars, for the year 2025. Total revenue reached AED 13.6 billion, equal to $3.7 billion dollars.

This marked a 6 percent increase from AED 12.8 billion, or 3.5 billion dollars, in 2024, Flydubai said in a statement published on its website.

Net profit after tax reached AED 1.9 billion, or 531 million dollars. The airline said the results were driven by network expansion, continued investment in innovation, improvements to customer experience and a focus on underserved markets.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, said the airline’s performance supports Dubai’s economic strategy under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

He said aviation remains central to the emirate’s development plans and described the fifth consecutive year of strong profitability as a sign of disciplined strategy and operational resilience.

He said flydubai benefited from Dubai’s status as a major global aviation hub, which helped it capture sustained passenger demand.

At the same time, the airline maintained a focus on efficiency and continued investing in aircraft, technology, product development and staff.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization totaled AED 4.0 billion, or 1.1 billion dollars. Fuel expenses made up 25 percent of the airline’s total operating costs. Cash and bank balances, including pre-delivery payments, stood at AED 5.6 billion, or 1.5 billion dollars, at the end of the year. On-time departure performance improved 6 percent from 2024.

The airline carried a record 15.7 million passengers in 2025, supported by strong demand for business and leisure travel. Business Class bookings rose 19 percent compared with the previous year. Passenger numbers increased across regions, with the Middle East up 17 percent, Africa up 12 percent and Europe up 12 percent.

Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith said the airline managed geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain delays and rising maintenance costs during the year while maintaining operational efficiency. He said the carrier now connects 140 airports in 58 countries to Dubai.

In 2025, flydubai operated 126,604 flights and recorded more than 400 departures in a single day during peak travel in December. It added nine new destinations, expanding its network to 140 destinations in total.

Overall capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, increased 6 percent. Revenue Passenger Kilometres also rose 6 percent, while passenger yield improved 3 percent compared with 2024.

The airline received 12 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, bringing its fleet to 97 aircraft with an average age of 5.5 years. It retired three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and returned them to lessors. Eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft were retrofitted, increasing the total number of retrofitted aircraft to 25.

At the Dubai Airshow, flydubai announced new aircraft orders for 150 Airbus A321neo and 75 Boeing 737 MAX jets. It also signed an agreement to introduce complimentary high-speed Starlink inflight connectivity across its fleet from 2026.

Its partnership with Emirates enabled more than 2.5 million passengers to travel across a joint network of 243 destinations in 103 countries through Dubai in 2025.

The airline signed 11 new interline agreements, bringing the total to 42, alongside codeshare agreements with Air Canada, Emirates and United Airlines.

Looking ahead, Al Ghaith said demand for travel remains steady in 2026. The airline expects delivery of 12 aircraft, including seven Boeing 737 MAX 9 and five Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, subject to manufacturer schedules.
