UAE Jiu-Jitsu Team Shines in Sanya, China with Six-Medal Haul
DUBAI,—The United Arab Emirates jiu-jitsu national team delivered a strong performance at the Asian Beach Games in Sanya 2026, Hainan, China, finishing the competition with a total of six medals: 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.
The Emirati squad demonstrated consistency across both men’s and women’s divisions, maintaining a strong presence throughout the tournament against high-level continental opponents.
The UAE team’s momentum began early in the competition, where they secured two gold medals along with additional podium finishes.
Among the standout champions were athletes competing in the lighter weight categories, setting the tone for the rest of the campaign.

On the concluding day of competition, the UAE added to their tally with more podium finishes. Mahdi Al Awlaqi earned a silver medal in the men’s 77kg category, while Shamsa Al Ameri secured a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg division.
Officials from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation praised the team’s discipline and preparation, noting that the results reflect long-term investment in athlete development and the growing strength of Emirati jiu-jitsu on the international stage.
The Sanya event featured athletes from across Asia and the Pacific, with closely matched competition levels making every medal hard-earned.
The UAE’s strong performance in Sanya follows another notable international achievement earlier in the season. In February 2026, the UAE also secured a gold medal in the under-73 kilogram category in judo at the Paris Grand Slam, further highlighting the nation’s growing success across multiple combat sports on the world stage.
