DUBAI,— The United Arab Emirates announced Friday that it is prepared to direct as much as 50 billion dollars into Canada through a joint framework involving artificial intelligence, energy projects and mineral development.
The information was released in a statement from the UAE investment ministry, which said the arrangement outlines priority sectors for future cooperation.
Officials in Abu Dhabi have been working to extend the country’s global energy footprint.
That effort includes XRG, a recently formed unit responsible for foreign investments on behalf of ADNOC, the capital’s main state oil producer.
The UAE is also accelerating its push into advanced technology, with plans to create a major data center hub supported by United States technology partners.
The ministry added that G42, an Emirati technology firm linked to state entities, continues to guide much of the country’s AI growth.
The framework agreement was concluded during a visit to Abu Dhabi by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, the ministry told reporters.
