DUBAI,— Wio Bank has unveiled the first banking account in the UAE tailored for content creators and digital entrepreneurs, offering features to manage income, payments, and business operations, according to the Emirates News Agency.
The announcement came at the fourth 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s largest event focused on the content creation economy.
The summit, organized by the UAE Government Media Office, was held under the slogan ‘Content for Good’.
Amina Taher, Chief Marketing Officer of Wio Bank, said her participation in the summit for a second year allows her to gain insights from leading content creators both regionally and internationally.
She described the launch of the creator-focused account as a key achievement.
Taher said the account, developed in partnership with Visa, can be opened digitally within 72 hours. It supports multiple currencies and requires no minimum balance, she added.
The new account provides tools for managing bills and business tasks without the need for a professional accountant.
Taher said the idea grew from her discussions with content creators at last year’s summit, where she identified the difficulties many face when trying to open a business account, often relying on personal accounts instead.
“The account gives creators the ability to work efficiently worldwide and achieve financial independence,” Taher said.
The summit hosts over 15,000 content creators and influencers, as well as more than 500 speakers, whose combined social media reach exceeds 3.5 billion followers globally.
The Abu Dhabi-based company, launched in 2022, is available only to residents of the United Arab Emirates. Wio Bank operates entirely online.
