ABU DHABI,— The United Arab Emirates summoned Iran’s ambassador in Abu Dhabi and issued a sharp diplomatic protest over missile and drone strikes carried out by Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Reza Ameri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UAE, was called in and given a strongly worded note condemning the attacks. The ministry described the actions as terrorist assaults and said they targeted UAE territory.
In an official statement, the ministry said the strikes amount to a serious breach of sovereignty and pose a threat to national security. It said the attacks violate international agreements, United Nations resolutions, and accepted international standards.

Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, spoke during the meeting with the Iranian envoy. He said the UAE rejects any explanations offered by Tehran for what he called hostile escalation.
He said civilian sites were hit, including residential areas, airports, ports, and public service facilities, exposing civilians to risk.
Al Marar stated that the escalation disregards the UAE’s clear position that it would not allow its land to be used for any military operations against Iran.
He said the attacks go against the principles of good neighbor relations and the United Nations Charter.

He added that such actions damage efforts aimed at reducing tensions and achieving peaceful solutions, which the UAE has pursued in its approach toward Iran. He warned that the developments could affect bilateral ties at political, economic, and trade levels.
The ministry stressed that the UAE demands respect for its sovereignty and called for an immediate and unconditional end to the attacks. It said the country reserves the right to respond in accordance with its legal rights.
Iran carried out dozens of missile and drone attacks on the UAE, striking airports, luxury hotels, and other sites.
The strikes on the UAE and most Gulf countries came after the United States and Iran carried out a major strike on Saturday inside Iran.
That attack killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the minister of defense, and more than 40 senior military officials.
