DUBAI,— Dubai has announced economic support measures totaling 1 billion dirhams ($272.26 million) to aid businesses, with implementation scheduled to start April 1, 2026 for a duration of three to six months, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said on X Monday.

The measures are designed to improve the flexibility of Dubai’s economy, strengthen preparedness, and help both businesses and families manage current economic conditions, the prince added.

At the Dubai Executive Council meeting, Sheikh Hamdan said that Dubai is recognized worldwide for its credibility, transparency, and trust among investors and businesses, and can confront any challenge through the commitment of its citizens and the resilience of its inclusive community, the Government of Dubai Media Office reported.

In related regional news, Emirates Global Aluminium reported major damage to its Al Taweelah production facility in the United Arab Emirates following Iranian missile and drone attacks.

The company said in a statement on Saturday that several employees at the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi were injured, but none suffered life-threatening wounds.

EGA CEO Abdulnasser Bin Kalban emphasized that staff safety remains the company’s top priority. He said the company is reviewing the damage to its facilities.

The attacks have disrupted exports from Gulf aluminium producers, who collectively account for roughly 9% of the world’s supply, as the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, preventing normal shipping channels.

EGA said its Al Taweelah smelter produced 1.6 million metric tons of cast aluminium in 2025. The adjacent alumina refinery produced 2.4 million tons of raw material last year.

The company also operates a smelter at Jebel Ali in Dubai and reported that substantial metal stocks were either already at sea or stored in overseas locations when the conflict began.
