MOSCOW,— Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom said Friday it reached an agreement with UAE based port operator DP World to create a joint logistics venture.
A company spokesman said Rosatom will own 51 percent of the new firm, while DP World will hold a 49 percent stake.
Rosatom will contribute its 92.4 percent share in Russian transport group FESCO, which focuses on container logistics.
DP World will invest cash, with the amount tied to the market valuation of FESCO, the spokesman said.
The agreement still needs approval from the government commission on foreign assets and the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
Rosatom said the partnership fits its plan to build a global logistics operator and boost cargo traffic, including shipments along the Northern Sea Route, an Arctic corridor running along Russia’s northern coast.
DP World is one of the world’s major container port operators, and the partnership will give Rosatom access to its international network.
Rosatom said DP World is also expected to help secure new cargo volumes, including traffic for the Northern Sea Route in coming years as part of long term plans.
