DUBAI,— Several hotels in Dubai are set to close during the summer of 2026, as reported by The National News UAE.

The closures come as properties reportedly undergo renovations, rebranding efforts, or permanent shutdowns.

The report stated that more hotels than usual will suspend operations this year.

Some closures are temporary, while others may last longer or become permanent.

The developments follow recent regional instability after missile and drone attacks by Iran, which led to tourists and Western residents leaving Dubai and other parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Analysts said the situation could lead to a decline in visitor numbers in the coming years. They noted that safety concerns remain a top priority for travelers, and doubts about security may push tourists to consider other destinations instead of Dubai.

Tensions in the region rose after joint airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026. Iran responded by launching thousands of missiles and drones toward targets across the UAE, and Gulf region, the report said.

According to the agency, the attacks targeted major infrastructure in the UAE, including airports, seaports, hotels, residential areas, and oil facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Some well known buildings were damaged, including the Fairmont The Palm hotel in Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Al Arab hotel.

The National News listed several hotels affected by closures this summer and outlined the reasons behind each case.

Jumeirah Burj Al Arab – Renovation

Jumeirah Burj Al Arab has closed temporarily for renovation. The hotel, a landmark in Dubai for more than 25 years, began an 18 month restoration project. Opened on December 1, 1999, the building stands 321 meters tall and includes 198 duplex suites.

A reopening date has not been confirmed. French interior architect Tristan Auer, who is leading the project, said that the focus is on quality rather than speed.

Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort – Permanent Closure

Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort has permanently closed. The luxury property, which opened in 2021, was the first hotel on the World Islands development.

Operations stopped on April 10. Minor Hotels, the operator, said the decision followed careful consideration with owner Seven Tides Ltd.

The company said that the closure resulted from multiple external factors and was not linked to a single issue. It added that its priority is supporting employees during the transition.

Park Hyatt Dubai – Renovation

Park Hyatt Dubai will close temporarily in May for renovation, with plans to reopen later in the year. The hotel opened in 2005 and is located along Dubai Creek.

Management said the closure is part of a planned project to enhance the property.

Radisson Blu Hotel – Partial Closure and Rebrand

Radisson Blu Hotel in Dubai Media City will close on April 30 for renovation and rebranding. The hotel opened in 2006. A representative told Hotelier that catering services will continue until the end of the year. The property is expected to operate under a different hotel group starting in 2027.

The St Regis Dubai, The Palm – Partial Closure

The St Regis Dubai, The Palm will undergo partial closure beginning in mid April. The five star hotel opened in 2021 and occupies the first 18 floors of The Palm Tower.

The hotel said on its website that certain areas will be unavailable during refurbishment, but some guest services will continue.

Armani Hotel Dubai at Burj Khalifa – Full Renovation

Armani Hotel Dubai has also closed for a full renovation. Located in the Burj Khalifa, the hotel spans 39 floors and includes 160 rooms and suites. The property said the work will involve a complete transformation.

No reopening date has been announced. Bookings are unavailable from April 19 through January 3, and its dining venues, including Armani Ristorante, are temporarily closed.

Experts said it remains unclear how Dubai will manage the current situation, adding that time will determine the outcome.
