UAE woman’s body found at hotel in southern India
KOZHIKODE,— A 40-year-old tourist from the United Arab Emirates was found unresponsive in her hotel room in Kozhikode, a city in southern India, Friday evening and was later pronounced dead at a private hospital, local media reported.
Police identified the woman as Zainab Ali Juma Mohammed Al Marzouqi, a resident of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
She had traveled to Kerala with her family on a tourist trip and was staying at a well-known hotel on Jaffer Khan Colony Road, officials said.
Hotel staff discovered her unconscious in her room and rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Nadakkavu Police were alerted to the death Friday evening.
Officers went to the hotel and opened an inquest along with a preliminary probe, authorities said.
The exact cause of death, and whether foul play was involved, will be confirmed after an autopsy, police said.
Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, is a city on Kerala’s Malabar Coast in southern India.
In a separate case, Emirati tourists were arrested in Thailand Thursday after fleeing a traffic checkpoint and injuring a Thai police officer.
